What we collect, why we collect it, who else can see it, and how to make us delete it. Written to be read, not to be skipped.
01The short version
We collect as little as possible. We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising trackers, and there is no account to create in order to read this site. The two places data actually reaches us are when you email us and when you talk to the assistant on this site.
02What we collect
When you contact us. Your name, email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it to reply and to run the project if one follows.
When you use the site assistant. The messages you type, plus which page you were on when you sent them, so answers can be relevant. A random per-tab identifier is generated to rate-limit abuse; it is not tied to you and disappears when you close the tab.
We keep those conversations. Questions and answers are stored so we can see what the assistant could not answer well and write better material for it. We read them to improve the assistant, not to identify you: there is no account, no email address and no name attached unless you type one into the chat yourself. Ask us at hello@grownic.dev and we will delete yours.
Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records requests, including IP address and browser user-agent, for security and reliability. We do not use these to build a profile of you.
03The site assistant and third-party AI
The assistant on this site is powered by a third-party language model provider. When you send it a message, that message and the relevant page context are transmitted to that provider to generate a reply. It is processed under their terms and privacy policy, not only ours.
Treat it as you would any chat window on the open internet: do not put passwords, financial details, or confidential information into it. For anything sensitive, email us instead.
04Storage in your browser
We use your browser's local and session storage for preferences — your light or dark mode choice, and the assistant's per-tab identifier. Your recent conversation with the assistant is also kept there, so it survives a refresh and the assistant still has the thread if you come back later. That copy lives in your browser, is limited to the last handful of messages, and expires by itself after thirty days. All of it stays on your device, is never transmitted to us as a profile, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's site-data settings. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
05Who else sees your data
Only the services required to run the site and the studio:
- Our hosting and deployment provider, which serves this site.
- The AI provider behind the site assistant, as described above.
- Our email provider, for correspondence.
- Our scheduling provider, if you book a call.
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
06How long we keep it
Correspondence and project records are kept while we work together and for as long afterwards as we are required to for tax and legal reasons. Server logs are short-lived and rotate automatically. Assistant conversations are not stored on our servers as a durable record tied to you.
07Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@grownic.dev and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing, to request a portable copy, or to complain to a data protection regulator.
08Children
This site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data; if you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and we will delete it.
09Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes to how we handle data will be called out on this page rather than slipped in quietly.
questions
Anything here that isn't clear, write to hello@grownic.dev and we'll answer in plain language.
